"Our attitudes create our emotions and thoughts. Our emotions and thoughts translate into actions. The actions that we repeat from there turn into habits. The habits determine our character. It is our character that defines the meaning of our life, the meaning we give it and we will give it when we leave here in our final moments."

Álex Rovira

When we begin to look at what we do not want in our lives or what we would like to have it is helpful to be really honest with ourselves. This means we can ask the question what attitudes do I have that create what I don't want or block what I would like to have. The next question would be, what attitude would be more helpful.

These attitudes will be personal to you. However, listed below are just some that I commonly come across, some of which you may recognise in yourself. I have listed them in two columns, those that keep people “impoverished” in their lives and those that help bring Good Luck. It is equally important to know how to change your mind or attitude. Once you have spotted one that particularly keeps you stuck in the past, there are several things you can do with it:

  • Work out what attitude would serve you better and write it as an affirmation, examples are those ones listed in the second column below.
  • Say or write this affirmation several times each day.
  • Be aware to catch yourself when you slip into your old attitude and say your affirmation again. Making sure you choose and act in this moment according to your affirmation and not your old attitude.
  • Consciously choose several times each day to do something or say something that reflects the new way of thinking that you are developing.

“Impoverished Attitudes”

Good Luck Attitudes

  • If someone else has what they want or I give them what they want, I´ll have less.
  •  There is more than enough to go around.
  •  I am right and you are wrong.
  •  Different opinions can exist at the same time. How can we find what we agree on?
  •  I´m going to just take care of myself
  •  There is always a win-win solution
  •  I just have to visualise what I want and it will come to me without me having to do anything
  • I am a co-creative part of the universe. It is exciting to take action to make my dreams come true
  •  I have to have what I want first, before I can think about others
  • Every gift I give to others is a gift to myself
  •  I demand my rights
  • I earn my rights as I joyfully focus on completing my obligations
  • You have to make me happy
  •  As I find my fountain of happiness within, I experience it reflected by others.
  •  I/you should, must, have to...
  •  I joyfully choose to ...
  •  Life is a competition. I want to be better than...
  •  Other people´s success contributes to my success
  •  Commitment limits my freedom
  • Commitment is the most honourable part of being human and opens many new doors and depths of experience
  •  If I am successful, others will lose out
  •  My success is contagious and benefits all those close to me
  •  If you are successful, I will lose out
  • Other people´s success contributes to my success
  • You have to be serious to be responsible
  •  I can have fun whilst I complete my responsibilities
  •  I don´t want to rock the boat or have other people disapprove of me
  •  “Keeping the peace” ultimately creates more conflict. As I live my truth more harmony is created around me.
